I created this blog in order to chronicle my journey towards completing 30 goals before turning 30. Since its inception however, my passion for writing has dwarfed my obsession to check items off my list. So I’ve begun to take the blog in a new direction; one that involves more storytelling and creative writing and less “30 Before 30” focus.
For all you list lovers out there, fear not. The list and its updates will remain on the page appropriately titled “the list”, and while I am no longer focusing on its completion, I still intend to follow through on several incomplete items. If an item is crossed off the list, there’s a good chance a story came out of it so I will post those tales from time to time.
The one list item that will remain a focal point of this blog going forward is #30: Begin writing my first novel. As I begin this process and throughout its journey, I will be devoting posts to the book. Ask any of my 6 or 7 loyal readers and they will tell you that I always try to engage readers and bring them along for the ride in my stories. This will be critical to me as I move forward with the writing so look for those in the weeks and months to come. For now, I hope you’ll meander through my blog and enjoy what I’ve shared to this point. Then I hope you’ll subscribe and be a part of what is to come…it should be a fun ride!
I always enjoy feedback from my readers so please feel free to contact me at: sportsjim81@gmail.com

It’s exhilarating to see in depth information that is not autospun junk on the first 2 pages of the big g. The majority of helpful websites are 5 and 6 pages back in the big g now, glad to see one has broken off from the lot of em.

Hey Jim, just ran across this post http://phdincreativewriting.wordpress.com/2012/05/14/howw-anne-germanacos-became-a-writer/ and thought the last paragraph especially telling:
“And one more thing: publication is the icing on the cake. The act of writing itself gives you a way to be in the world and is its own reward. Publication just makes it okay, finally, to actually mention that you’re a writer.”

I nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award. It seems to be the equivalent of a chain letter for blogging, but it seemed fun too. You can see details here: http://emilyjanuary.wordpress.com/2012/04/10/the-versatile-blogger-award/
I’m enjoying your blog!

You found yourself drifting into a funk, I like that expression. Now I turn 58 this year so I’m drifting into a funkadelic, not a group I ever liked really but hell I’m going to celebrate with gusto’
Gusto is a friend of mine, he’s happy to travel anywhere to add some excitement to the proceedings, I suggest you celebrate with him later in the year…
Love your posts
sportsjim81 said:
Haha…love it. I think everyone should have a friend named Gusto to hang out and party with. I might name my next son Gusto because he’s sure to be popular, even if people are just using him for his name.

Hello Jim! I just happened to see your blog and I just admire men who love their family. 🙂 Gusto in the Filipino language means ‘want’. 🙂

Nice. I turned 30 this year too, and it definitely messes with you. “Not So Little Dogs” was in your “About Me” and I think it’s time I added that to mine, too. Nothing beats 30 like a big friend.

Haha…thank you for stopping by. I appreciate the encouragement of someone who has recently hit the Big 3-0! Hope you’ll come back again.

2 things:
1. I love that we’re opposites when it comes to “being Italian” – you because of your heritage, but not your name; me because of my name, but not my heritage.
2. We have the same blog layout! Fun! 🙂
Looking forward to reading more, Jim!

The layout…another reason why I stopped on your blog. Thanks for coming by, hope to see you here again!

I can’t believe someone hasn’t done this yet…
Hell- LOOOO Ballllltimore! There’s the flasher that lives next door…
hahahah…we’re big on watching movies and tv shows in our home. There’s always something on and for awhile, it was Hairspray. Now I feel like putting that on, my 5 year old loves musicals. Just in case you feel like hearing:
I’m about to turn 40 and listed I was in a “funk,” as well, on someone else’s blog last night- how odd! I started my blog in Jan. 2011, so it’s new. However, it’s my 3rd blog…and actually started plugging away 2 years ago!
I’m all about developing a close community, so let’s visit back and forth and make comments, it’s so fun to get to know people in other states. My goal is to have a blogging friend in each state! I don’t have one in MD, yet!
We’re just about as far as we can get, I’m in Southern CA, about a few hours drive from Mexico.
See you soon,
Sandi

P.S. Are you participating in the A-Z challenge? Starts in April. There’s a link on my header to the site. It might be a great way to meet others.
sportsjim81 said:
Sandi,
I was checking out the whole A-Z thing and it’s a great idea. I’d love to participate, just not sure if I can commit to an everyday post. I’ve been pretty good about doing 3 a week but I’ll give it some thought.
