Last night, after having dinner with our neighbors like we do every Thursday, we spent several minutes watching Izzy dance to R&B on the coffee table, wearing nothing but a diaper.  She wasn’t feeling 50 Cent but seemed to really get into Usher.  At one point, she tried to snap her fingers but the gesture looked more like she was begging for money.  Sensing the moment was taking an unhealthy turn, we ended the show and quickly dressed her for bed.

These evenings have become the norm for Jen and I since the kiddies made their grand entrance into our lives.  Now we weren’t exactly social butterflies before that, but we at least made it out of the house for dinner and a movie once in a while.  These days, our “going out” frequency is more like that of a meteor shower than a rain shower.  We love spending nights like last night with our kids and friends, but whenever we can find time (and someone gullible enough to babysit), it’s great to get out.

Enter Segway…

It’s time for another installment of Follow-Up Friday (yeah, still haven’t come up with a better name) and I’m jumping ahead to #26 on the list because it’s about to be crossed off!  Dinner for two at The Charleston in Baltimore is officially reserved for next Tuesday night.  I know what you’re thinking, Valentine’s Day is Monday.  Don’t worry, I didn’t forget (thanks for the reminder though).  Jen works on V-Day this year so we had to push it back a day.  Anyway, we’re both really looking forward to it because we haven’t had a date night in quite a while and, well, we likes us some grub!

This place has been rated as the best restaurant in Baltimore and from the looks of the menu; I don’t think we’ll be disappointed.  Thanks to the gift certificate we received from my Aunt and Uncle, we won’t even have to take out that home equity loan we talked about to pay for it.  Expect a thorough review of the restaurant and our meals next week, after we wake from our food comas.

As for the rest of the list, here are the latest updates:

#11– Coordinating this event is proving more difficult than expected.  It’s not like I’m Justin Bieber people.  For some reason, lots of people want to see me perform.  As I’ve said before, I have no doubt it’s because they want to see me make a fool of myself, but that’s fine with me.  I plan to be at least moderately inebriated by the time I take the stage anyway so you’re all in for a show.  Plans have changed however since my last update.  An unexpected change in venue and date have led me to cancel my attempt for this month but don’t worry fans, March is right around the corner!

#12– As I mentioned last week, I successfully navigated my first guitar lesson and I feel like a pro already.  Well, that’s not true.  I feel like a guy who needs a few extra fingers.  On the plus side, I paid a visit to Guitar Center this week and met up with Steve Lynch, an instructor with Scott at Baltimore Guitar Lessons.  He pointed me in the direction of a shiny new Yamaha acoustic and I’ve been practicing ever since.  I even found out that one of my loyal readers took my advice and started his own lessons with Scott this week.  Very cool.  I’m looking forward to my next lesson on Wednesday and I should be schooling you all on some Hot Cross Buns in no time!

#13– As of last night, page 63.  Nuff said.

#28– Our trip to Disney is booked for the end of September.  After several scheduling conflicts, Iz and the Jakester were able to move some things around and fit in time for the family so we’re grateful to them for that.  Actually, the trip is a little earlier than what was originally thought which reminds me to update you on #1.  Now that the Disney trip is not going to interfere with the Baltimore Marathon, it’s back on the list.  While it would have been interesting to try a new race, at least I’m familiar with the course in B-more so I think that gives me a slight advantage.  Of course, the lack of training to this point probably negates any advantage I think I have so let’s call it even.

So that’s it for now.  As you’ve probably noticed, no progress has been made on the NFL Quarterback or Bill Simmons items.  My constant barrage of email and twitter messages to The Sports Guy will no doubt land me on the wrong end of a restraining order soon so I continue to implore you, my loyal readers, to keep spreading the word for me.  The more people we can get to join the cause, the more likely famous people like Simmons will eventually get word of this ridiculous blog and say, “Sh#*! I’m tired of these people bugging me.  Fine!  I’ll talk to the loser!  Just get him off my back!”  (or something profound like that).
